A great destination for your holidays in Calabria

Nestled inside the Gulf of Squillace, as if in a picturesque small fiord, is the small town of SOVERATO, the Ionian pearl and the queen of the towns in the borough of Catanzaro,  capital of the Calabria region.

Here are the remains of ancient “Suberetum” with its age-old oaks.

The area named after “Suberetum” is a testimony to its purely mythical origin which evokes everlasting civilizations that make their presence felt in the natural architecture of the landscape, in the fantastic jaggered coastline of Pietragrande, Caminia and Copanello to the north.

Southwards, the coast winds through an enchanting landscape made of mountains, hills and the sea and from whose waters the Riace bronze statues emerged a few years ago.

The nearby villages attract pleasure trips: some for their treasured monuments, some for their renowned produce, and some others for their high-quality traditional crafts.

In summer, Soverato becomes a popular tourist destination: visitors are drawn here by the natural attractions and by the fun and leisure they can find on the seafront overflowing with restaurants and night clubs of all types.

Lamezia Terme railway station and Lamezia Terme modern airport (about 22 miles from Soverato) conveniently connect the area and are also serviced by  low-cost flights.
